These snow melters provide fast, efficient clearing of snow and ice from track switches even under the most severe winter conditions. Using either propane or natural gas fuel and a high efficiency blower, the MAGNUM™ provides up to 2000 cubic feet per minute of heated air for maximum snow melting. Ductwork at the switch distributes airflow to the desired areas, including the switch rods and cribs. The flow of warm, dry air causes the melted snow to evaporate. This reduces the chance of puddles forming and refreezing. The entire switch area is left clean and dry.
New options for 2002 also include a 2-stage energy management system available on all models.
The MAGNUM™ control system consists of a main circuit breaker, motor contactor with overload relay and the control module. These components are enclosed in a large, easily accessible, weather tight enclosure.
The control module contains all of the elements and functions necessary for advanced snow melter operation. A single chip microprocessor has been programmed with all the logic and timing sequences to provide complete flame safety control, as well as operational control and system interface. Individual input and output circuits made up of discrete devices assure dependable operation.
The unit may be turned on by a manual switch, snow detector, or remotely from a contact closure.
