The Steel Tie Duct
is designed to be a permanent replacement for the outlet duct used
in gas and electric hot air track switch snow melter systems. Constructed
of structural steel, the steel tie duct is intended to replace the
"0" tie in a switch layout, and is available in either plain or galvanized
steel versions. The unit can be equipped with point nozzles, center
track ducts, and a switch rod duct as well.
Railway Equipment Company also offers a through-tie duct when logistical parameters require the switch heater to be located across more than one track. Straight and offset flexible ducting connect the two steel ties together, even if the two tracks are at different elevations.
Also available are galvanized straight and offset ducts and stainless steel straight and offset flexible ducts to connect the STD to the through-tie duct and hot air blower outlet duct. Pandrol "E" clips and 3/4" bolts secure the tie plate to the STD and the rail. High temperature, high tensile strength insulation under the tie plate provides security from thermal and electrical breakdown. Insulating thimbles are inserted around the track bolts to provide similar protection.
Available with tie plates for 132-136# and 110-119# rail, galvanized steel duct, 9" overall length, 8" x 10" x 1/2", with insulated tie plates, Pandrol "E" clips, and gasket kits for point nozzles and track duct nozzles.
